80 Years of Legacy: Olivet Baptist High School Old Students' Association Announces Anniversary Celebration

The Olivet Baptist High School National Old Students Association is excited to announce a 3-day celebration schedule to commemorate the school’s 80th Anniversary, set to take place from April 10th to 13th, 2025. A key event in this celebratory calendar is a fundraising initiative on Saturday, April 12, aimed at rallying alumni worldwide for Legacy Projects that will support the structural and technological development of Olivet Heights.

In a joint media statement, Dr. Wale Okediran, President of the National Old Students Association, and Dr. Olusegun K. Ahmadu, Chairman of the 80th Anniversary Central Planning Committee, emphasized that the activities have been thoughtfully curated to serve as a reunion platform for former students. The mission is to drive educational and infrastructural projects that ensure current students enjoy a superior learning experience. "This 80th Anniversary celebration is therefore designed to honour the rich history of the school and showcase its enduring impact to the whole world," they explained.

While noting that the Old Students Association has, in the past, implemented many iconic projects like the upgrading of learning facilities and sports complex, construction of the school hall, donation of computers and other learning aids, and construction of the school gate, among others, they said the 80th Anniversary Fundraising would be further channeled towards restoring and enhancing the glory of the School.

“The Project Implementation Team is using this medium to call on all alumni to register for and be part of the X Space Conversation by filling the Google Form we shall be promoting across the digital platforms so that their data can be adequately updated. It is a unique opportunity for all old students' home and abroad to come together to relive the old times and chart an impactful future for our great Alma mater,” they submitted.

In addition to the fundraising event, the celebration will feature a Twitter Space conversation designed to reunite alumni across all Year Sets. Further, a comprehensive documentary showcasing the school’s evolution and the diverse generations of Olivetians will be promoted digitally. The primary aim is to strengthen the bond among alumni and inspire them to unite in demonstrating loyalty, commitment, and passion for the school's advancement and welfare.

Olivet Baptist High School, formerly Baptist Boys' High School, is an iconic public secondary school located in Oyo town. Affiliated with the Nigerian Baptist Convention, it was founded by the American International Mission Board on 29 January 1945 on its original site in the premises of the old Baptist mission house at Oke-Isokun, Oyo, Oyo State. Currently, the School is located on the Old Ibadan – Oyo Road. Its vibrant National Old Students Association (NOSA) was founded in 1976. “For 80 remarkable years, Olivet Heights, Oyo, has stood as a beacon of learning, growth, and community transformation, nurturing generations of thinkers, leaders, and visionaries. As we mark this historic 80th anniversary milestone, it is vital not only to celebrate its enduring legacy but, more importantly, to address its urgent needs through a meaningful spirit of giving back,” remarked the representatives.

This celebration marks a unique occasion for the Olivet community to come together and invest in the future of Olivet Baptist High School. At its inception, the school was among the few in Nigeria outside Lagos that boasted hostel facilities, staff quarters, and excellent laboratories for sciences, home economics/food & nutrition, fine arts, and music. It also featured workshops for metalwork, woodwork, and technical drawing (mechanical/building), an agricultural center with poultry and a fishpond, and various sports facilities. Consequently, Olivet Heights became a dominant force in inter-school academic literary debating competitions and sports, excelling in soccer, basketball, hockey, handball, and athletics. The school also offered facilities for lawn tennis, cricket, squash, badminton, volleyball, chess, and table tennis.

Supermom Reality TV Show Returns for Fresh New Season...Super Mothers Can’t Be Over Celebrated, says Sola Fajobi

Lagos, Nigeria| March 12, 2025: After a long hiatus, Supermom, the celebrated reality television show from the stable of Sola Fajobi owned Digital Interactive Media, DIM, will return in 2025.

The reality TV show, which has celebrated several mothers across Nigeria including mothers of famous Nigerian celebrities, will return for a fresh season in 2025.

This was confirmed by Fajobi, the Chief Executive Officer and executive producer of the show, in a recent chat with the media.

“We have created several reality shows that include Next Movie Star, D8 and Supermom but one show that has seen viewers and industry giants asking us to bring back is the SuperMom and the reason is not far fetched. Supermom is fulfilling to me because it is designed to celebrate mothers,” Fajobi began.

“A lot of people believe that a mother is any woman who gives birth to a child. However, it is important to note that Mothers come in different forms. They can be a mother by birth, Stepmother and a mother by adoption. Having said that, a real mother is someone who shelters, guides and cares for a child. She’s a patient and virtuous woman who is always ready to do everything for her children. A mother is a woman who nurtures, cares for, and provides unconditional love to her children, whether biological, adoptive, or otherwise. She often plays a central role in raising, guiding, and supporting her children through various stages of life. Beyond biological ties, the term 'mother' can also symbolize someone who assumes a maternal role by offering care, protection, and emotional support. And this is why we have decided to bring back the Supermom reality TV show,” he concluded.

In the same vein, Abidemi Alli-Balogun, the brand manager of Supermom reality TV show noted that the show is returning with a bang.

Alli-Balogun noted that for the 2025 edition of the Supermom reality TV show, the winner will get a brand new house while the first runner up will get a brand new car while the second runner up will get cash prizes.

The brand manager further noted that top local and international brands have shown interest in backing the show for the 2025 edition and work has begun in earnest with the crew already working on different locations.

Fajobi added that the show will air on at least 50 television stations across Nigeria every weekend and will kick off in the coming quarter of the year.
