Meet Chef Morayo: The Ebony Culinary Genius Turning Nigerian Kitchens Into Global Stages

Don’t let her quiet demeanor fool you. Behind Chef Morayo’s calm smile is a culinary force reshaping how Nigeria eats, trains, and thinks about food.

Kuye Deborah Morayo, known professionally as Chef Morayo, is not your average cook. The ebony-skinned culinary artist with what clients call “magic hands” honed her craft at the prestigious MOK Culinary School in Abuja, where she emerged as one of the top graduates, distinguished for flawless technique and uncompromising hygiene standards.

Her range is rare: from delicate French pastries to rich, authentic African soups and bold continental entrĂ©es. Today, she commands the kitchen at one of Lagos’ upscale hotels, where her dishes have become a guest favorite for both locals and expatriates.

But Chef Morayo isn’t stopping at hotel service.

“I see myself building a successful food brand and raising the next generation of chefs in Nigeria,” she says. Her passion lies in mentorship, with plans to train teenagers and young adults in professional cooking, nutrition, and food entrepreneurship.

She’s also a vocal advocate for healthier Nigerian eating habits. “Our food culture is strong,” Chef Morayo explains, “but we need better portion control, cleaner cooking methods, and balance. We can keep the taste and tradition while choosing health.”

With elite training, hotel-level experience, and a mission to impact youth, Chef Morayo is more than a chef. She’s a brand, a teacher, and a business opportunity waiting to happen.

Grassroot Achievers Award 2026: October Grand Ceremony To Recognize Local Community Leaders

The organisers of the Grassroot Achievers Award (GAA) have announced that the 2026 edition of the prestigious recognition ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, bringing together change-makers, community champions, and impact-driven individuals whose contributions at the grassroots level have too often gone unacknowledged.

Themed around recognition, appreciation, and motivation, the three pillars boldly emblazoned on the award's identity, the event promises to be an unforgettable evening that puts the spotlight firmly on people building Nigeria and Africa from the ground up.

The Grassroot Achievers Award was founded on a simple but powerful conviction that extraordinary impact does not always come with a title, corner office, or national headline. Sometimes, it comes in the form of a teacher who stayed, a youth leader who showed up, and a community builder who refused to give up.

While fielding questions from members of the media, Ayo Sogbuyi, a veteran publisher and Executive Producer of the Grassroot Achievers Award, said the forthcoming ceremony reflects a deepened commitment to spotlighting achievements that society often overlooks

"We live in a world that celebrates the loudest and the most visible," Sogbuyi posited. "But the Grassroot Achievers Award exists to remind us that the true architects of progress are often those working quietly in places the cameras rarely go. On October 25th, we are bringing those cameras to them, with a view to giving them the standing ovation they truly deserve." He maintained.

The organizers describe the occasion as a necessary act of storytelling, and Seunmanuel Faleye, the Media Director, emphasized that every edition of this award is a story that needs to be told. These are real people with real impact; in their streets, schools, markets, wards... What we do on the night transcends just handing out plaques. We validate achievements. We say to these individuals, your sacrifice was seen, effort counted, and the community is better because you existed in it." The organizing team disclosed.

The ceremony, which draws nominees from diverse sectors including education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, community development, youth empowerment, and the arts, is expected to attract a distinguished gathering of public figures, corporate stakeholders, civil society leaders, and members of the press.

Nomination and sponsorship inquiries are currently open, with organisers urging individuals and organisations to rally behind the movement that is redefining what it means to be celebrated in Nigeria.

The Grassroot Achievers Award ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Further details on the venue, nominees, and program will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Queen Is Back! Oluwayemisi Adesqueen Jayeola Setting A New Standard In The Entertainment World

Veteran filmmaker and producer, Chief Dr. Mrs. Oluwayemisi Adesqueen Jayeola, has announced her return to active content production with plans to launch a new slate of digital projects aimed at reshaping narratives on social media.

Widely known in Nollywood as the ‘marketer-producer’, Jayeola built her reputation through decades of work in the Yoruba film industry before establishing AdesqueenTV, a content platform that combined personal creativity with motivational storytelling. The platform gained traction for its inspirational videos, many of which were widely replicated across social platforms.

Industry reports have consistently recognised her as a key contributor to the growth of African cinema. Unlike several contemporaries who exited the scene, Jayeola maintained relevance by evolving her craft and sustaining audience engagement.

Speaking on her return, the producer said her focus has shifted to digital storytelling that addresses pressing societal themes. “I am committed to delivering exceptional content that challenges the status quo, the same way we engaged audiences in film,” she said. “This new phase will tackle issues of faith, relationships, and social responsibility while prioritising impact.”

Sources close to the project say early development points to a blend of traditional Yoruba cultural elements with contemporary formats designed for global audiences. Jayeola’s previous work has been credited with both entertaining and educating viewers, earning her international recognition for cultural preservation.

Described by industry watchers as “a creator with a heart of gold,” Jayeola insists the goal is beyond virality. “Content should make the world better. That is the standard we are setting,” she added.
