Modupe Silva-Ope Set To Take 'God’s Will Foundation' To The Next Level

The story Modupe Olatunbosun Silva-Ope can be likened to the popular saying that a golden egg has no hiding. From her little comfort to support the poor in the society, she has been able to catch a niche for her self as a selfless woman with heart of kindness.

It is interesting that most of her efforts through her foundation has been at low key without fanfare and unnecessary attention seeking.

Worried by the plight of widows and poor women in the society, Modupe dedicated a larger percentage of her support to these target group as a way to make a statement.

For instance, during the covid pandemic, she was able to feed over 200 women everyday for several days without making noise non seek help fro the government.

This effort did not stop until her target of feeding 5000 was reached and all was done through her personal efforts and her immediate family support.

Like the proverbial saying of teach a man how to fish, she recently launched an empowerment project to train 200 women of different age grades on the business of make-up and beauty. The free training will be completed with provision of working tools that worth over two hundred thousand Naira to each participant.

Her kindness was first shared by a man identified as Ibukun Sunday who was involved in a fatal road accident that got one of his legs amputated. He narrated how Modupe mobilised resources to get him an artificial leg that has enhanced him to be more productive with minor hindrance.

Speaking recently on his upcoming empowerment project, Modupe explained how she relocated from Ireland to give back to the vulnerable women she had witnessed their suffering in the past.

She said her background in beauty and make up informed her decision to use this path to put other women into self reliance and sustainability.

While she is welcomed to other well meaning Nigerians to join hands with her to target more people in the society, Modupe equally called on those with means to always remember the needy around them.

WELCOME ADDRESS BY HON. KHAIRAT ANIMASHAUN -AJIBOYE AT THE COMMUNITY LECTURE AND EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM: ENGAGING FESTAC YOUTHS IN THE PROMOTION OF PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT

Good morning to my Fathers, Mothers, Brothers, Sisters, Aunties, Uncles, Teachers, Neighbours, Juniors, Seniors, Our Erudite Professors, Representatives of government agencies and the Fourth Arm! I welcome you!!

Today is a good day simply because the decision to have this event was almost spontaneous. I have resided in Festac Town, down the road from here since 1977 with my great parents, Alhaji Bashiru and Alhaja Aminat Animashaun. We know how our communities were, structurally, culturally and socially! We All testify to how they are today.

Positive Dynamix, Peace and Development Initiative was created in 2015. The idea to create it was borne by me officially on the 9th of September, 2015, over 7 years ago.

The Vision is simply to create a more egalitarian society TO:

1. Encourage girl child education.

2. Promote Peace, Welfare and Safety in our environment and among young people.

3. To educate the youths on dangers of drug abuse and promote moral and ethical values on the society.

4. To ensure equitable development for both rural inhabitants and poor urban dwellers especially women and children.

5. To equip the youths with simple employable skills for them to be job creators rather than job seekers, so they can also lead responsible lives.

These and others were the aspirations of Positive Dynamix, Peace and Development Initiative (PD, PDI) which also gave me the opportunity to register a sister organization in the USA.

One critical addition to the list of what I read was given by a ‘young man’ in Abuja who is knocking on his 40th birthday. He said ma, we should include the drugs issue, I said why, and he responded by explaining to me how they had drugs planted all over their Secondary Schools like they were beautification flowers. The students became drug addicts from the very institution that should have protected them.

I love my people and my communities and it is time for us to show our hidden sincerity and help each other so we can return hope and dignity back to our societies. Only YOU/ME can make the difference!!

I want to use this opportunity to talk about a gentle man, I have never met him in person but I have taken my time to listen to his speeches and to feel the real human in him. That man happens to be the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu! You all recall some of my ‘journeys’ within the last months and some of you may be able to find those prints on the internet, I however assure you that His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu means well for not just the youths but for everyone! Like my teachers thought me, communication is key! We need to communicate with each other more and more!! That is the way we will get to know one another, that is how we can listen to each other and help solve our community issues with sincerity of purpose and actions. When you hear Sanwo-Olu, think, Good mind, willing and Ready to serve and that he seeks to always do better for Lagosians.

Today we will try to give some form of little support to existing business persons across the wards! Then we will have those that are interested in starting a small scale business to send a 2 pages proposal to your chairman and community leaders who will send them to me. We will create a board that will evaluate, interview and advise but TRUST me that we shall endeavor to be fair and do what we say we will, Allah willing! Remember that.

Kindly be patient as we listen to our Professor who will speak to the topic of today, Engaging FESTAC youths in Peace and Development.

Thank you so much for this opportunity!

Opinion: The Jagaban of Borgu is not a saint but the best option for Nigeria 2023! - Hon. Khairat Animashaun-Ajiboye

HON. KHAIRAT ANIMASHAUN-AJIBOYE

Just like no one is perfect, Asiwaju is not perfect. Yes he was complacent in many areas of need by the Nigerian masses and some elites too!, Yes he has some advisers who do not genuinely have his interest and the interest of Nigeria at heart and who continues to mislead and shield him from the truth as well from good people for their personal gains ONLY! Alas this man, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a kind hearted man who had been very good in identifying talents, putting round pegs in round holes, growing economies, people and brilliantly knows our problems as a people and as a nation. He knows exactly what to do to fix it!!

Senator knows that he can NOW become unselfish having had ALL that life has got to give and as Governor from arguably the most populous City in Africa; He is a king maker and a talented strategist, A firm decision maker and a people person! He MUST become more understanding now and intelligently face the National problems with practicable sustainable solutions, where we can start reducing our debts, increasing our capacity in areas of power generation and distribution, “put feathers back on the body of the hens” so that ‘the hen’ can flourish especially where we can simultaneously put GOOD teams together to ensure we STOP miscarriages of Justice, impunity and embolden the LAW, it’s communication and it’s respect.

Bola Tinubu, is a fair person, who must allow the people to own structures and make them accountable. Nigerians are embodiment of brilliance! I however understand that the human mind is unpredictable, the reason some of our leaders are forced to handle governance the way they do - with fear and control, but this man has come a long way and knows by now, the REAL rules of the game! He will have to make changes even to his kitchen cabinet and I mean that literally - provisions of what he eats and drinks.

The unity of our country, as we know it lies in a leadership that understands the good, the bad and the ugly and can sincerely retrace their steps, ask for forgiveness from the people, empathize and sympathize with the plight of our people and then strategically push forward an agenda that will make everyone, not just barely survive but thrive. I know the entrenched and entitled over the past 62 years will throw kicks, but that’s okay.

I want to see a Nigeria where I will not be afraid to ply the roads to any part of our beautifully blessed country, A country that can be fair to its citizens and uphold the rights of the oppressed, no matter what; One where our ‘young’ men and ladies alike turning 40 can be proud to plan for their future without fear; Where ethical values will be upheld and a reorientation by example can become the norm.; A country where our community responsibilities prevails. Frantic and pragmatic decisions should be made about the state of our Federation in terms of what needs to be reset and or corrected. Let us resonate HOPE again and for the right reasons!!

For historical minds, you remember in the Bible that Saul who became Paul was a persecutor of the Christians until his soul was seized by the Creator and he became the defender of good and the Christians. The same can be said in the Quran where the grandfather of the Prophet, Abdulmutalib was a non believer and a persecutor of the Muslims but changed to become a defender of the Muslims. Malcom X was a criminal who was jailed only to become the fighter for the oppressed. Many examples of leaders of history who had to go through the bad side of the people to later gain the trust of the people without fear are not farfetched.

Ahmed Tinubu can bring about these core changes and some others which I have not mentioned here! ASIWAJU, you may want to close shops and take stock of what had been purchased by you albeit humans. Kindly let’s change narratives and salvage our country! I believe you have what it takes! Political party or not! I dare say that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the best option for a United Nigeria at this point of our 62 years history as a country and he deserves our support.

Signed:

Hon. Mrs. Khairat Animashaun-Ajiboye
